Terms of service

These terms cover Checkback, the service that answers your restaurant's Google reviews, posts to your Google Business Profile and keeps that profile complete and correct. When you sign up, start a free trial or join the founding beta, you agree to them.

"You" means the restaurant business that signs up and the person who signs up for it. "We" and "Checkback" mean us.

Your plan renews every month and your card is charged each month until you cancel.

To cancel, reply to any email from us or write to chris@checkbackhq.com. We cancel it that day.

Payments aren't refunded, except where the law requires it. If a reply or post ever doesn't sound like you, tell us and we fix it that day.

What we do for you

For each location, we answer every Google review in your voice, post to your Google Business Profile 3 times a week, and keep your profile complete and correct: hours, holiday hours, photos, menu, categories, attributes and order links.

We send you a report every week and every month, built from the numbers Google reports for your profile.

We post replies and updates on your behalf. We use AI tools to help draft them from your voice answers and the facts you give us. A person handles hard reviews, like ones about health, safety, a named staff member or a legal threat, and we may check with you before one goes up. If you asked on the intake form to see posts first, we send each one to you before it goes up.

What you do

Prices, billing and taxes

Prices are. We collect sales tax where the law requires it, including Texas. Stripe handles payment and works out the tax.

You're charged on the day your paid plan starts and on the same day each month after that, until you cancel. If a payment fails, we'll email you. If it isn't fixed within 14 days, we may pause the work until it is.

If we change a price, we'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. You can cancel before then and never pay it.

Free trials and the founding beta

With the 7-day free trial, you add a card when you sign up. You aren't charged for the first 7 days. On day 8, your card is charged $179 per location plus any tax, and the plan renews every month after that. To avoid the charge, cancel before the 7 days are up.

In the founding beta, you get 28 days free with no card. When the 28 days end, the service stops unless you choose a plan and add a card. We never charge you for the beta. If you give us a testimonial, we use your words only with your written OK, and we'll say you got your first 4 weeks free.

How to cancel

Reply to any email from us, or write to chris@checkbackhq.com. We cancel it that day and confirm by email. You won't be charged again.

We keep working through the end of the month you've paid for, unless you ask us to stop sooner. After that, remove our Manager access from your Google Business Profile. We'll remove ourselves too. Everything we posted stays on your profile.

Refunds and the fix-it promise

Payments aren't refunded, including for part of a month, except where the law requires a refund.

If a reply or post ever doesn't sound like you, tell us and we fix it that day.

The replies and posts we write for you

Once a reply or post goes up on your profile, it's yours. You can edit or delete any of them any time in your Google Business Profile, or ask us to.

You let us use your restaurant's name, logo, menu, photos and the facts you share, only to do the work. Our templates, methods and tools stay ours. We won't name your restaurant in our marketing without your written OK.

Your information and approvals

You're responsible for the information you give us being true and current, and for your restaurant following the rules that apply to it, like alcohol advertising and pricing rules. We write from the facts you give us and your public information.

When you approve a reply or post, or tell us on the intake form to post without sending it to you first, you agree that it goes up in your restaurant's name.

No promise of rankings or results

We promise the work: the replies, the posts and the fixes described above. Google and your guests decide where you show up. So we can't promise rankings, a spot on Google Maps, a mention in AI answers like ChatGPT, more reviews, higher stars, more calls or more sales.

Google's rules and changes outside our control

Google owns Google Business Profile and Google Maps and sets their rules. Google can change features, remove reviews or posts, suspend a profile or limit access at any time. The same goes for AI tools, website hosts and other platforms. We follow Google's policies and will decline work that breaks them. We aren't responsible for what a platform does, but we'll tell you if a change affects your service and do what we can about it.

What we won't post

Don't ask us to:

We can decline, change or hold anything that would break the law or Google's rules.

When we can end the service

We can pause or end the service if you don't pay, break these terms, or Google suspends your profile or removes our access. We can also end it for any reason with 30 days' notice by email. You won't be charged after it ends.

Limits on our liability

We provide the service as described here, without other promises or warranties, to the fullest extent the law allows.

We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost sales, lost data or harm to reputation. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law allows.

Claims from the information you give us

You'll defend and cover us against claims by other people that come from information, photos or instructions you gave us, from a reply or post you approved or asked us to publish, or from your breaking these terms or the law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change affects your price, how you cancel or your rights, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies. The date at the bottom shows the latest version. Using the service after a change means you accept it.

Texas law and disputes

Texas law governs these terms. Any lawsuit goes to the state or federal courts in Harris County, Texas, and you and we agree to those courts. Before filing anything, email us and give us 30 days to fix it.

The rest of the fine print

These terms are the whole agreement between us about the service. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer this agreement without our OK. We can transfer it if Checkback is sold or reorganized.
